Batch picking in Pickscan for BigCommerce
Batch picking groups multiple BigCommerce orders together so pickers can collect all items in a single pass through the warehouse. It's the most efficient picking method for high-volume stores, and is enabled by default in Pickscan for BigCommerce.
Where to find it
Open Pickscan from the BigCommerce admin and go to the Picking page. You'll see a table of batches with their status, order count, item count, and a countdown to the next automatic regeneration.
How batches are generated
Pickscan regenerates batches automatically at a fixed interval — you'll see the countdown timer at the top of the Picking page.
You can also trigger generation manually by clicking Regenerate batches. A status banner shows Generating batch picks… while the job runs, and updates to Batch pick generation complete when it's done. Generation typically takes a few seconds and the table refreshes on completion.
Batch statuses
Each batch row shows one of three statuses:
- Available — The batch is ready to be picked. It appears on any connected mobile device and can be selected by an available picker.
- Picking — A picker has selected this batch on their mobile device. The batch is locked so no other picker can access it, and the picker's name and start time are shown.
- Complete — All items have been picked and all orders in the batch have been packed. The completion time and picker name are shown.
Picking on the device
- Open the Pickscan Android app and log in with your PIN.
- View available batches on the Picking screen.
- Tap a batch to select it — the batch locks to your device.
- Walk the warehouse, scanning each item's barcode as you collect it. Items are listed together, not split by order.
- When every item in the batch has been scanned, the batch moves to the packing station.
Single-order picking fallback
If batch picking is disabled for your store, the Picking page instead shows individual orders. Each row displays the order name, age, SKUs, and picking status. Operators pick orders one at a time from the Android app, with no batching involved.
Auto-refresh
The Picking page refreshes batch and order data automatically every 30 seconds so you don't need to reload manually.
