Picking orders from your browser
Use the Pickscan picking queue in your browser to view, filter and pick unfulfilled Shopify orders. You need unfulfilled orders and a USB or Bluetooth barcode scanner, or you can type barcodes and SKUs manually.
The picking queue
Open Pick in the Pickscan sidebar. The queue loads your unfulfilled Shopify orders oldest first, up to 250 at a time.
Each order row shows:
- Order number and destination (country flag and postcode)
- Age since the order was placed
- Shipping service
- SINGLE or MULTI item badge
- Total weight
- Pick status — Ready to Pick or In Progress
Select any row to open that order and start picking.
The summary line shows the number of loaded orders, total items and total weight. If your store has more unfulfilled orders than the current page, a Load more orders button appears at the bottom of the list — select it to append the next page.
Scanning and searching
The scan bar at the top of the queue accepts order numbers, product barcodes and SKUs.
- Order number — type or scan an order number and press ↵ to jump straight to that order.
- Product barcode or SKU — if the code does not match an order, Pickscan looks it up as a product and shows the product name, SKU and bin location inline. Press Esc to return to the queue.
You can also navigate the queue with the keyboard:
- ↑ ↓ to move through the order list
- ↵ to open the highlighted order
Filtering orders
The filter bar below the scan bar lets you narrow the queue by date range and pick status.
| Filter | What it controls |
|---|---|
| From | Earliest order date to include |
| To | Latest order date to include |
| Status | All, Ready to Pick, or In Progress |
Set From and To and select Apply dates to reload the queue with orders in that range. Changing Status filters the already-loaded orders without reloading the page.
Select Clear filters to reset all active filters and return to the full queue.
Selecting orders and printing a pick list
Tick the checkbox on one or more order rows to select them. A selection bar replaces the summary line and shows:
- The number of selected orders and total item count
- Select all to select every visible order
- Clear to deselect all
- Print pick list to generate a consolidated PDF pick list
If your store has a Minimum items per pick list setting, the Print pick list button stays disabled until the selected orders contain enough items. The selection bar shows how many more items you need. You can change this threshold in Pick-list and picking settings.
Picking an order
Open an order from the queue to see the pick screen. The scan bar sticks to the top of the page and prompts you through each stage:
- SCAN FIRST ITEM — no items scanned yet
- SCAN NEXT ITEM — picking in progress
- ORDER COMPLETE — READY TO FULFIL — every item has been scanned
Scanning items
Scan or type a barcode or SKU and press ↵. When the code matches an item on the order:
- The item row flashes green and the counter increments
- A toast confirms the product name at the top of the screen
- The page scrolls to the matched item
If the code does not match any item on the order, a Wrong item error appears. If the item has already been fully picked, the error reads already fully picked. Select Dismiss or scan the next item to continue.
The item checklist
Each line item shows:
- A status glyph — open (○), partially picked (◐) or complete (✓)
- Product thumbnail, name, SKU and barcode
- Bin location chip, if a bin location is set for that product
- Scanned count out of the required quantity, for example
2/3 - Pick / Pick all (for multi-unit lines) / Undo button to mark or unmark a line manually
Select Pick or Pick all to mark a line as done without scanning. Select Undo to un-pick a completed line. To undo the last individual scan, press U.
Completing an order
When every item has been scanned, a confirmation modal appears: Order picked correctly. Select Mark fulfilled or press ↵ to record the order as fulfilled in Shopify. Select Not yet or press Esc to close the modal and continue reviewing the order.
After fulfilment, Pickscan returns you to the picking queue and confirms the order name. The fulfilled order no longer appears in the queue.
