Setting up your Pickscan install on WooCommerce
Using the wizard after install
When you open the Pickscan menu in WordPress admin for the first time, a setup wizard walks you through connecting your store and pairing your first scanning device. A progress bar at the top shows which step you're on.
Step 1: Welcome
The welcome screen introduces Pickscan and confirms the WordPress plugin has installed correctly. Click Get Started to continue.
Step 2: Generate API keys
Pickscan needs WooCommerce REST API keys to read orders and update fulfilment status.
- Click Generate Keys to have Pickscan create a read/write API key pair for you automatically.
- Alternatively, paste in an existing Consumer Key and Consumer Secret from WooCommerce → Settings → Advanced → REST API.
The generated keys are scoped to the Pickscan plugin only — you can revoke them at any time from WooCommerce's REST API settings.
Step 3: Connect your store
Pickscan sends your store URL, store name, and API keys to the Smartcode backend to register your account. This step usually takes a few seconds. When it completes, you'll see your store name echoed back as confirmation.
Step 4: Pair your first device
Pickscan generates a short device code for you to enter on the Android app.
- Install the Pickscan Android app on your device. See Installing the Pickscan Android app.
- Open the app and enter the code shown in the wizard.
- Once paired, the device name appears in the WordPress admin.
Click Finish to close the wizard and land on the main Pickscan dashboard.
Tip for first-time users
Feature spotlight cards on the dashboard link back to any setup steps you skipped — for example, adding your first mobile-app user. Work through them in any order.
