Batch picking in Pickscan for Shopify

Batch picking groups your unfulfilled orders into batches for a picker to work in one pass through the warehouse. Available on Warehouse and Enterprise plans.

Before you begin

  • Ensure you have a Warehouse or Enterprise Pickscan subscription. Batch picking is not included on the Team plan.

Turning on batch picking

Open the Batches page from the Pickscan navigation. If batch picking is off, Pickscan shows a Batch picking is off screen with a Turn on batch picking button.

Select Turn on batch picking. Pickscan enables the feature and loads your batch list. You can also configure options in SETTINGSBatch picking first.

The Batches page

The top of the page shows a summary strip:

  • Available — batches ready to be picked.
  • Picking — batches currently locked to a picker.
  • Complete — batches where all items are picked and orders packed.
  • Total orders and Total items across all current batches.

Batches are generated automatically on a schedule. A countdown shows when the next generation will run. Select Regenerate now to generate immediately.

Each batch row shows the batch name, age, shipping service (colour-coded), order and item counts, and current status with the picker's name when assigned.

Viewing batch details

Select a batch row to open the detail view. The detail card shows:

  • Batch number, shipping service and status
  • Order count, item count, creation date, lock time, completion time, and picker name
  • A list of orders in the batch, each with its line items, product thumbnails, bin locations and tote/pack location
Note

Batch detail is read-only in the browser. Pickers work batches on the Pickscan mobile app.

Picking a batch on the device

  1. Log in

Open the Pickscan Android app and enter your PIN.

  2. Select a batch

The Picking screen shows available batches. Tap one to select it — it locks to your device so no other operator can pick it at the same time.

  3. Collect items

Walk the warehouse and scan each item's barcode as you collect it. Items are listed together across orders, sorted for an efficient warehouse walk.

  4. Finish

When every item in the batch has been scanned, the batch moves to the packing station automatically.
